Multiple awards in Belgium and the Netherlands. Based on the play “Les Feluettes” by Michel Marc Bouchard.

Short content

“Lilies” is set in the 1950s of the 20e century. A group of prisoners, led by old Simon Doucet, perform a play in honour of Bishop Jean Bilodeau. What first appears to be an admission of guilt for past crimes soon turns into a trap for the bishop himself. Indeed, the play uncovers that he is unlawfully still at large and that because of him, Doucet spent years behind bars guiltlessly for the violent murder of the young eager Vallier de Tilly.

“Lilies” is a passionate story whose core themes are the taboo surrounding homosexuality, the encouragement of young people’s free speech and a plea for equal opportunities for all. These themes make the play timeless and at the same time wildly topical.
