Based on Warren Adler’s 1981 bestseller – filmed in 1989 by Danny DeVito, starring Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas. The musical is by Frank Van Laecke, Allard Blom and Sam Verhoeven.

Brief content

Everything about Bob and Barbare Van Rozen’s marriage seems like a dream. Their shared passion for antiques, their two children and their beautiful home. While Bob throws herself into his career and making enough money, Barbara hangs up her studies and focuses entirely on raising the children and furnishing their absolute doormansion. Bob and Barbara. Cuck and egg. Peace and quiet. Everything seems to be right…

Until the house is decorated to the last detail and the children are out of the house. Barbara is desperate to redecorate her life and starts her own catering business. But this new beginning and new life makes her take everything under the microscope. Especially her marriage. And so she comes to the conclusion that she and Bob have grown apart completely.

So she files for divorce.

Now divorce can be easily gerelgd… But what if neither wants to part with that one symbol of prosperity, taste and style: the house? The house becomes the stakes of a bizarre fighting divorce. Both refuse to give in and come up with increasingly creative ways to drive the other out of the house. A couple who for years were bonded in love are now bonded in anger and blind hatred.

The Van Rozens’ once-happy marriage degenerates into a war: The War of the Roses. And in it, nothing and no one is spared…
