Brief synopsis
“November ‘89” is set in West Berlin in the days of the fall of the Berlin wall. On both sides of the wall there is a growing realisation that something could be about to give, and several organisations pressurise the regime of the German Democratic Republic to open the borders. Helene gathers information for one of these organisations and calls round to see Arend Holtz. He fled East Berlin in the troubled days after the wall was built. She wants to hear his story, to provide more ammunition to break the wall down. But as Arend gets further into his painful story it becomes clear that Helene has another reason for hearing all about those times.
