NOVEMBER ‘89 RETURNS TO THEATRES

Seven years after the premiere of the original version, “November ‘89” returns to Antwerp in April and May 2026, with a new cast and a new staging.

West Berlin, 1989. In the run-up to the fall of the Wall, the reclusive Arend Holtz receives an unexpected visit from Helene, a young woman with sharp questions and a determined mission. What begins as a search for information slowly unravels a past that has long remained hidden, revealing how the choices of the past still leave their mark.

East Berlin, 1961. As the Berlin Wall divides the city in two, young students become embroiled in a struggle between ideals and fear. Resistance grows in the heart of the Student Union, fuelled by a deep-rooted desire for freedom. But in a society where every mistake can be fatal, no one is safe, and not everyone can be trusted.
